It’s hard to believe our trade show was two weeks ago. Thursday, after the show was over, I flew from Vegas to Pennsylvania for my younger sister’s wedding and to visit family. Then Tuesday, I flew to Phoenix and got back to work. 420 Jars had some problems last week that caused quite a scare, but just like on Entourage, everything worked out in the end.

Gary drove to San Diego on Friday to deliver jars to two of our big customers there – Get it On and The High Road. It’s always cool to visit a shop for the first time, meet the employees, see how they display our jars and maybe pick up a souvenir. But now that he’s back, it feels like we’re moving forward again… the last two weeks were spent in limbo. We’ve been sitting on a ton of orders to ship out, but the pieces haven’t been in place to effectively make that happen. This week is our first real week back to work, and it feels good.

The Gravitron guys stayed with us for a couple days this week. They drove from Austin to Phoenix and spent two days with me and Gary before leaving Friday for Vegas. We’ll be headed up there tomorrow for our industry’s trade show. That’s where we met the Gravitron guys last year.

I enjoy talking shop with Dave and Evan. Like 420 Jars, Gravitron was started by two guys in their twenties who had an idea. When we first met them and swapped stories about our businesses and how we got started, it was almost surreal. They practically had the same story as us, just with a different product. Three-quarters of my twenties are over. I don’t mind getting older. What I fear is stagnation. As long as I’m learning new things that excite me, as long as I have a challenge that I’m passionate about, I can be happy with my age and place in life.

Right now that passion is my business. I have many other interests and ideas I want to explore, but for the next few years my focus will be on 420 Jars. Presently I’m looking to improve our website. 420 Jars was just named the Official Stash Jar of the High Times Cannabis Cup… Amsterdam, here we come. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Cannabis Cup, Gary (the other half of 420 Jars) likes to say it’s the World Series of Marijuana. Every November, several thousand people (mostly from the US), go to Amsterdam for a week of smoking pot. Different strains of marijuana are entered into the contest by seed companies, growers and the coffee shops. Everyone votes on their favorite strains and that determines the winners of the Cannabis Cup. Continue Reading »
